Case Management/Child & Youth Worker Counselor
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Worker degree, BSW, MSW or degree in an accredited human service / social service program.
- 3 years experience supporting at risk homeless youth who face numerous barriers.
- 3 to 5 years counselling experience in evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, BSFT, etc.).
- Understanding of challenges experienced by hard-to-serve clients in obtaining housing, employment, educational and community opportunities.
- Effective knowledge of agencies, resources and supports in Peel region, including addictions services and mental health agencies and resources.
- Experience working from an anti-oppressive framework, including commitment to work with the socially and economically disadvantaged, supporting youth that have been victimized through sexual exploitation and multicultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated and proven ability to engage homeless youth in an outreach or shelter setting with positive measurable outcomes.
- Strong understanding and experience working with a harm reduction philosophy.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, advocacy, mediation, problem solving, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, effective time management and planning skills.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills including the ability to research and complete applications and supporting documentation.
- Knowledge of social media concepts and functions.
- Valid CPI/ UMAB and First Aid/ CPR certification.
- Knowledge of OW, PHIPP, ODSP, CAS and other forms of financial aid to obtain housing or prevent housing loss.
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle and with insurance coverage is mandatory.
- Proficient with computers, remote access, MS Office products, database entry and compiling statistics.
- Completion of a successful Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check will be condition of employment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor's degree in child development, international affairs, public health or related field
Very strong Facilitation and communication skills
Very strong ability to write, edit, and speak English (Previous experience writing, editing and/or publishing articles and taking photos)

Can identify major stakeholders involved in child wellbeing matters in the country
Position requires in-country travel for up to 30 per cent of working hours.
Position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis situation, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster. Also requires willingness to undergo World Vision and external training on how to respond to such emergencies, including first aid training.
Willingness to develop survival and security skills for various risks and challenges encountered in emergency situations.
Willingness to undergo first aid and security training.
